Game Development

Unity • 2D and 3D games • Full project or support

As a UK-based mobile game development company, Intelivita develops Unity games, creates artwork and animations, and maintains existing projects. Our team can handle the complete project or support the parts you need.

Android and iOS Game Development

Google Play • App Store • Phones and tablets

We build games for Android and iOS phones and tablets and publish them on Google Play and the App Store, with in-app purchases set up through each store. Where included in your scope, we also adapt your game for Windows and Mac, adjusting controls, interfaces and performance for each platform.

Game Design and Artwork

Game design document • 2D and 3D art • Animation

We work from your concept and, where required, prepare a Game Design Document covering gameplay, features and progression. Our team creates 2D artwork or 3D models and animation, taking assets from initial concepts and sketches through to finished game assets. We optimise the artwork for mobile devices and adapt it for desktop platforms where included in scope.

AR and VR Game Development

ARKit • ARCore • Meta Quest

We build augmented reality games with ARKit and ARCore that place game content in the player’s surroundings through the phone’s camera. We also build virtual reality games for Meta Quest headsets, with hand tracking and controller input.

Cross-Platform Game Development

Unity • iOS and Android • One codebase

You build your game once in Unity and release it on iOS and Android, on phones and tablets. Every update reaches both stores at the same time, which keeps one codebase to maintain.

In-Game Economy and Monetisation

In-app purchases • Rewards • Ads

We design how your game earns: in-game currency, rewards, unlockable items, in-app purchases, ads and an option to remove them. We plan the economy with progression, so spending feels part of play.

Unity Game Development

Is Unity right for your game?
We build every game in Unity. One Unity project gives you an iOS and an Android game, in 2D or 3D. Unity says more than 70% of the top 1,000 mobile games were made with it (Apptopia data, Q4 2022).

Unity is a good fit when your game:

  • launches on iOS and Android together
  • uses 2D or 3D art, physics and animation
  • may later move to AR, VR or PC
  • needs in-app purchases, ads, leaderboards and cloud saves

Unity is a weaker fit when:

  • you need photorealistic 3D for PC or console, where Unreal Engine is the usual choice
  • you are building an app rather than a game; see our cross-platform app development instead

Our game development work

Each project starts with your game idea and ends with a game live on the App Store and Google Play.

Mobile game development FAQs

How much does it cost to develop a mobile game in the UK?

A simple 2D mobile game costs £20,000–£30,000, and a 3D or multiplayer game costs £30,000 or more, excluding VAT. The price depends on the art style, the number of levels and features, multiplayer, and whether you launch on iOS, Android or both.

How long does it take to develop a mobile game?

Based on Intelivita’s game development experience It takes 3 to 4 months to develop at minimum, and large, complex games can take up to 12 months. The schedule depends on the amount of artwork, the gameplay systems, the number of levels and the testing needed. Your written proposal confirms the timeline before work starts.

Which game engine do you use?

We use Unity with C# for game development. It supports 2D and 3D games across mobile and desktop platforms, alongside AR, VR and multiplayer functionality.

Can you build my game for both iOS and Android?

Yes. We use Unity to build games for iOS and Android from a shared codebase. We can also adapt your game for Windows and Mac, adjusting controls, layouts, display settings and performance as required. Desktop releases are included where agreed in your project scope.

Do you develop VR games?

Yes. We build virtual reality games for Meta Quest headsets, with hand tracking and controller input. You can commission a complete VR game or hire VR developers to join your team.

What types of games do you build?

We build casual games, including endless runners, side-scrolling platformers, puzzle games, card games and simple arcade games. These are examples rather than an exhaustive list; your game may combine genres or use different mechanics.

Our standalone projects often focus on these types because they suit the budgets clients bring to us. We also support larger game projects by extending existing teams with Unity programmers, concept artists, 2D and 3D artists, animators and testers.

Can you design the game as well as build it?

Yes. We can handle the complete process, from developing your concept and preparing the Game Design Document through to concept sketches, 2D artwork, 3D modelling, animation, programming, testing and deployment.

Our artists and programmers work together throughout development, and we can continue supporting and updating your game after launch.

Can I hire dedicated game developers?

Yes. You can hire Unity programmers, concept artists, 2D and 3D artists, animators, game designers and testers, individually or as a full team. They can build your game or extend your existing team.

Tell us which skills you need, how many people you need and for how long, and we’ll propose a team suited to your project.

How can my game make money?

Your game can earn through paid downloads, advertising, paid ad removal, virtual currency purchases or in-app purchases that unlock specific items, abilities or content.

We design the in-game economy around gameplay and progression, balancing earned rewards with optional purchases. For example, players might use virtual currency to unlock outfits, items or other rewards, as in Kangaroo Khaos.

No single monetisation model suits every game. We recommend an approach based on your gameplay, audience and commercial goals.

Can you add leaderboards, accounts and multiplayer?

Yes. We add player accounts, cloud saves and online leaderboards, and use Unity Netcode for multiplayer gameplay.

Can you take over a game another developer built?

Yes, provided it is built in Unity. We can maintain your game and extend it with new features, gameplay, artwork and downloadable content (DLC).

We first review the Unity project and source code to assess its quality, architecture and how easily it can be maintained or extended. Where applicable, we also review the backend, admin systems and other supporting components before recommending an approach and providing an estimate.

Do you support the game after launch?

Yes. We fix bugs, update the game for new iOS and Android versions, and add new content, events and features.

Who owns the game and its code?

You do. You own your game’s code, and we hand over the full source code and project files. Third-party items used in the game, such as the Unity engine, plug-ins and licensed art or music, stay under their own licences.

Do you sign an NDA before I share my game idea?

Yes. We can sign a mutual NDA before you share your game concept, designs or artwork.

How do I start?

Share the five details outlined above: your game idea, specific features, preferred art style, target platforms and budget, if you have one.

Provide whatever you know—we’ll follow up with questions, discuss any gaps and prepare an initial proposal covering the scope, approach, cost and timeline.

Turn Your Game Idea into a Clear Development Plan

Tell us what you want to build, the platforms you want to reach and any budget or launch date you have in mind. We’ll discuss your requirements and outline a practical scope, development approach, cost and timeline, with no obligation to proceed.
