Turning remote skin assessments into structured clinical submissions
Dermatology triage depends on clear, complete information. Bantham RADAR needed to help patients submit usable images, accurate symptom details and relevant medical history from home, so clinicians could review and prioritise cases remotely.
The challenge
Patients can wait a long time for a dermatology assessment. Without a reliable way to share information remotely, triage often depends on a face-to-face appointment.
Remote submissions are often incomplete. Free-text descriptions can miss details clinicians need, such as how long the condition has been present or what treatments have been tried.
Photos taken without guidance are often blurred, poorly lit or badly framed, making them difficult to assess clinically.
Patients find it hard to describe exactly where a condition appears, particularly when it affects more than one area.
Patients describe symptoms in different ways, and not everyone finds it easy to explain them in writing.
Patient health information must be protected, and each submission needs to be matched to the correct patient.
How we built the solution
Built a mobile triage journey that lets patients submit their skin condition details from home, so clinicians can review and prioritise cases remotely.
Created guided clinical questionnaires covering symptoms, condition duration, treatments, medication and medical history, so every submission follows a consistent structure.
Added step-by-step image capture with on-screen overlays, plus a review step that lets patients retake photos before submitting.
Introduced an interactive 3D body model that patients can rotate to select one or more affected areas.
Supported structured symptom descriptors alongside optional written descriptions and voice notes.
Added identity verification using NHS number, case reference and date of birth, with encrypted transfer for every submission.
